I love a warming, comforting drink or cocktail while sitting in my screen porch on a chilly fall day, and this fall margarita packed with fall spices is perfection!
The Story:
Notes of cinnamon and ginger, along with the tequila, warm you right up. Made with apple cider, tequila, fresh squeezed orange juice and a warm spiced simple syrup. A lot of apple cider margaritas lack flavor because most store bought apple cider does not have enough (if any) added spices. I created a spiced simple syrup using cinnamon and ginger for these fall spiced margaritas to give it more flavor, warmth and a little kick. Brimming with the spices and flavors you love, these margaritas hit the spot.

The Ingredients:
Here is the list of ingredients you will need to make these fall spiced margaritas:
- Tequila: A good quality tequila is needed for this. 100% agave tequila is my go to alcohol because it does not have any added sugars so it tends to not cause headaches like other alcohols do. And it’s 100% gluten-free.
- Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice: Every good margarita needs some amount of acidity. In keeping with the flavors of Fall, I like to replace the usual lime juice with orange juice.
- Apple Cider: Most store brand apple cider will do the trick here. Most store bought apple cider seriously lacks flavor and spices, but sometimes you can find a good local apple cider that is packed with flavor.
- Water & sugar: For making the spiced simple syrup.
- Cinnamon and Ginger: These warm spices will go in the spiced simple syrup to boost flavor and add a kick to these fall margaritas.
- Maple Syrup and Cinnamon Sugar: For rimming your glass to elevate the presentation.
Step By Step Preparation Instructions:
These are super easy to make, but these little beauties make a statement.
- Step 1: First, let’s make the spiced simple syrup. In a small saucepan, over medium low heat, heat together the water, sugar, cinnamon and ginger together. I would recommend using fresh ginger and cinnamon sticks, but you do not have those, ground cinnamon and ginger will work! Stir regularly until all the sugar has melted and it has become slightly thicker. If using ground cinnamon and ginger, strain the syrup out using cheesecloth or a very fine mesh strainer. The cinnamon and ginger leave behind an unpleasant residue as they do not melt down.
- Step 2: Add remaining ingredients to a shaker with lots of ice. Shake vigorously until well chilled. To rim your glasses, simply dip the rim in water, honey or in keeping with the fall vibes, maple syrup. Then, dip the rim in cinnamon sugar. Pour in the margaritas and garnish with fresh cinnamon, apple slices and sage. Enjoy!
