These BLT bowls are a quick, easy, 15 minute grain-free meal idea for you!
The Story:
I love a good bowl meal. They are versatile, nourishing and should be flavor packed with an abundance of toppings, and a delicious sauce. BLT’s are such a quintessential summer meal, but I love these BLT bowls even more. Start off with a bed of fresh spinach or greens of your choice, add in lots of chopped tomatoes, bright sliced red onion, avocados, and of course…lots of bacon. The homemade steak fries made in the air fryer take this bowl to another level and provide a comforting dose of carbs to satisfy and provide energy. They are crispy on the outside, buttery soft on the inside come together super easily in the air fryer. Top everything off with a delicious creamy BBQ dressing, which is a blend of mayonnaise, paleo BBQ sauce and mustard, for the perfect balance to bring it all together.

The Ingredients:
Here is the list of ingredients you will need to make these BLT bowls with homemade steak fries.
- Bacon: Your favorite kind of bacon will work for this recipe. You can’t go wrong when it involves good ol’ bacon!
- Spinach: Feel free to use fresh spinach or your preferred mix of greens. Bonus nutrition points though for dark, leafy greens.
- Tomatoes: The T in BLT, so of course you need lots of them. Use up that summer bounty!
- Avocado: I need no excuse to add avocado to anything. They are such a great source of nutrition and elevates your blt’s.
- Red Onion: Red onion brings crunch and flavor to the bowl.
- Potatoes: For your homemade steak fries! Russet potatoes work great for these, since they create large wedges that you are looking for in a steak fry. You can absolutely omit making your own fries and just use your favorite frozen fries!
- Olive Oil: Olive oil gets added to the fries so the seasoning adheres to the wedges and for crispiness.
- Spices: Salt, Pepper and Chili powder. These spices make up the seasoning for the steak fries. A little spicy, a lot of flavor.
- Mayonnaise: In my opinion, no blt is complete without a dose of mayo. It works perfectly to create a sauce/dressing when mixed with bbq sauce and mustard.
- Paleo BBQ sauce: Most bbq sauces contain corn starch, sugar, and some include gluten. Primal Kitchen is an amazing company that carries paleo (grain-free, no refined sugar) products. Their BBQ sauce is great and works beautifully as part of this dressing.
- Mustard: A bit of dijon gets added to round out the flavor for the dressing.
Step By Step Preparation Instructions:
These grain-free & dairy-free BLT bowls come together so easily.
- Step 1: First, make the homemade gluten-free steak fries. Cut 2 russet potatoes in half, then quarter each half. Slice each quarter into large wedges/fries. These do not have to be perfect and will each vary slightly in shape and size. Drizzle on the olive oil, ensuring each potato wedge is coated well. Add the seasonings and blend well. Add to the air fryer and bake at 390 for 12 minutes. Then, switch the setting to max crisp (450) for 2 minutes. The outside should be nice and crispy and the inside should be fork tender. If your wedges are slightly bigger and do not seem quite done, just add a couple more minutes. You can also prepare these in the oven. I would bake them at 425 for 15 minutes, then turn each wedge and bake for another 10.
- Step 2: Now, prep the remaining ingredients: Cut and slice all of your preferred toppings. Prepare your bacon the way you prefer best. I love making mine in a cast iron skillet on the stovetop. It’s quick and helps ensure the bacon gets nice and crispy. Lastly, prepare the sauce/dressing. Mix the mayonnaise, BBQ sauce and mustard together and whisk until creamy.
- Step 3: Now to assemble! Add about 2 cups of spinach to a bowl, add on all of your delicious toppings, add in the homemade gluten-free steak fries, and slather on the sauce. Enjoy!
