🧾 The Ingredients:
Here is the list of ingredients you will need to make this mango spinach smoothie bowl.
- Frozen banana: When frozen banana is blended, it becomes creamy and provides a sweet base for this hyper nourishing smoothie bowl.
- Frozen Mango: Adds such great flavor, along with also helping achieve the creamy texture you are going for.
- Frozen riced cauliflower (fresh would work too): Just a bit of cauliflower gets added for extra nutrients and balancing out your blood sugar.
- Fresh Spinach: For nutrients and upping your daily veggies for all the antioxidant goodness!
- Almond Milk: For thinning out the frozen fruit and to help the blender process the ingredients.
- Topping Options: Here’s where the fun part comes in! Go crazy with the toppings to add in good fats, protein sources and extra deliciousness! I love adding fresh fruit, granola, nut butter, honey, yogurt, seeds and shredded coconut. Get creative and customize to your liking!
Step By Step Preparation Instructions:
- Step 1: The main component for a successful, ice-cream like smoothie bowl is to use frozen fruit as your base. Cut up some bananas and keep them in your freezer, and stock up on your favorite frozen fruit so that you can just throw it all in the blender when you need. Add some fresh spinach, a little almond milk and any additional supplements you want to add, throw it in the blender and there you have it.
- Step 2: Be prepared to use the tamper tool to help push the ingredients around and help the blender get your smoothie bowl nice and smooth. You will get a bit of an arm work-out, but once you’ve gotten the hang of making them, it becomes easier. I start with the blender on speed 1 to mix the ingredients and start to coarsely chop the fruits. Then, turn up the speed a little at a time, using the tamper and constantly pushing down the ingredients. If you are having a really hard time getting the blender to catch, you can add 1 tablespoon of milk at a time. Keep blending until all the ingredients have been processed and you have a smooth, delicious texture.
- Step 3: Pour into a bowl and generously top with your favorite toppings like fresh fruit, honey, granola and yogurt!
Recipe FAQ's:
- Can I make a smoothie bowl with a food processor instead of a blender? You may be able to, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Your food processor would need to be a high quality, high powered food processor. The blades of a blender tend to be more durable and thicker, so the frozen fruit may damage the food processor blades.
- Is this mango spinach smoothie bowl vegan? Yes, it is! Only dairy free, vegan ingredients are used to make this smoothie bowl.
- Can I make this smoothie bowl using dairy products? Absolutely! If you can tolerate dairy, you should be able to swap out the dairy-free and vegan products in the recipe easily with regular milk.
- Is this smoothie bowl recipe considered to be healthy? In my opinion, yes. It is grain free, gluten free, dairy free and vegan. Everyone has their definition of healthy, but this bowl is packed with hyper nourishing ingredients like fruit, vegetables, and topped with good fat ingredients. I do not create these smoothie bowls to be low calorie, so if that is a health goal of yours, be mindful of the toppings you add.
